How to Install Marble Tile - Marble Floor Installation

Previously associated only with lavish buildings, marble tiles are now recognized as one of the popular options in furnishing homes due to its strength and elegance. If you have made the choice of using this high polished rock, here are some of the basics on how to install marble tiles if you want to do it by yourself.

Choose the design that goes with your abode's theme and prepare the tools needed to cut, sand, and install marble flooring such as tile nippers, a saw with diamond blade, a notched trowel, a squeegee used for spreading cement in crevices and sponges or rags.

Once you have prepared the tools, check for proper fit. Depending on the area and the size of your tiles, you may need to cut them to completely cover the floor, especially those that will be placed around the doors or corners.

Make sure to clean and dry the surface before pouring the adhesive since uneven surface can cause the placed tiles to be easily chipped off. Having made sure that the area is set; apply a layer of adhesive with your notched trowel and layout the marble tiles according to your design.

Spacers are used for proper distance between each tile, and after installation, let your masterpiece dry overnight. Fill in the gaps between the tiles with cement using your squeegee and leave for about ten to twenty minutes before wiping the excess with sponges. Clean the tiles and remove any traces of cement by washing it off so that there will be no stains.

After installing the marble tiles, you can then have the satisfaction of a fancy home and the best thing about it is that you made it with your own hands.
